Gabrielle gave the girl walking in a look. She was a fellow Slytherin - that was a point for her. However, if her lateness lost Slytherin points, Gabby would not be impressed. And the girl would be in negatives as far as she was concerned. Gabby turned back to the teacher, waiting for the usual table-pig-table transfiguration, sneering slightly at the multitude of Gryffindorks in the room. She sneezed. "Ugh. All the Muggle-lovers in this room... they're irritating my sinuses." She muttered under her breath, too quiet to be heard by anyone more than a metre away. "I must get Mother to send me the instructions for that allergy potion..."

Lily hurried down the corridor she was already late for transfiguration and didnt want to loose any points for gryffindor on her first day imagine how many friends she would have after that. she hurried more as she saw the classroom in sight. she entered and took up a place in the middle of the room at the only desk left in that row. she wasnt suprised to see professor mcgonagall transform infront of her because her father was an animagus although he could turn into an arctic wolf and he worked for the ministry so she didnt see much of him.

Danny watched all the others troop in. When the Professor transformed, he applauded lazily. His Mother was an Animagus, so he had seen it enough times. He waited for the pig to table transformation that he had been told about from his brother and sister, but it did not come. Danny flicked through the book, as the rest of the class applauded. He found a spell that turned a match into a needle. It looked pretty basic so he decided to give it a go. He pulled a box of matches from his pocket, took a match and placed it on the desk. Danny muttered the incantation and the match changed into a small sewing needle, in the blink of an eye. Danny's eyes widened. He never knew he could do such magic. He then put the needle in his shirt pocket, as a souvenir of his first spell.

Brett snuck quietly in to the transfiguration classroom he was late because he got lost trying to take a shortcut. As he entered he breathed a sigh of relief as there was no sign of the Professor so he took a seat and grabbed his book from his bag when he noticed a cat in the room. Then it hit him that Mcgonagell was an animagus, but maybe she hadn't seen him.

Lily noticed another student enter the classroom. She noticed it was Brett a Ravenclaw she had met in the library. She quietly picked up her book and bag and went over to him "Hi" she said smiling "Is anyone sitting here?" She shouldnt have moved in the classroom but there was some commotion from the late comers and she figured she should at least sit with someone she knew.

After a change in classroom, Harry found the Transfiguration class to be one of the most difficult to locate. He panted as he sprinted down the corridor, absolutely nerve-wrecked from having to have asked the portraits of a cheerful, three-legged Troll, a score of nasty goblins, and an unsure maiden surrounded by arguing monks. "McGonagall is going to kill me," Harry quickly thought to himself as he turned on his heel and started down another stretch of corridors. His eyes lit up with desperation as he noticed a fellow Gryffindor starting into an unidentified classroom.
As Harry nervously turned to catch a glance inside the classroom, he absorbed each identifying detail while trying to catch his breath. Suddenly, his bright green orbs stopped on a familiar face. He had spotted Hermione, and the knot that was his stomach relaxed. Sighing with a bit of relief, Harry pushed the arched, maple door open and watched Professor McGonagall as he made his way further into the classroom. "Sorry I'm late, Professor, I got a bit lost," Harry tried to explain, searching desperately for compassion within McGonagall's deep eyes. When he found none, he walked with haste over to Hermione. He plopped down in the seat next to her with a tiresome expression, wiping his forehead discreetly. "Hi Hermione," He greeted his early-bird of a friend quietly, placing his Transfiguration book on his desk along with other basic items. After making sure his own personal space was similar to that of Hermione's, Harry scanned the room in an attempt to find familiar faces. Failing miserably, he turned his attention to the front of the class where Professor McGonagall stood.

Lily noticed another boy enter the classroom. She recognised him of course, It was Harry Potter - who hadnt heard of him "Always thinks he can bend the rules" she muttered not actually meaning what she had said but she had been so quiet since she had arrived at Hogwarts that she had to complain about something - or so she felt. Lily picked up her match and transfigured it into a needle like they were suppose to be doing "What do you reackon we'll be doing next lesson?" she asked Brett quietly "Transfiguring needles into matches?" she was of course being sarcastic - transfiguration was - after potions, history of magic and divination - her least favourite subject she couldnt wait until the afternoon when she had Defence Against The Dark Arts - now that would be an interesting lesson.

Hermione tried to hide the smile that was playing on her lips as a flushed looking Harry entered the transfiguration classroom late. She watched with her deep brown eyes as he muttered an apology to Professor McGonagall and shuffled over to the left along the bench to accomodate Harry as he sat by her and voiced a greeting. Hermione clucked at him, "Oh, Harry! Being late isn't going to help our chances of winning the house cup this year! We are already behind all the other houses." She hissed, making sure she wasn't heard by the Professor. Then here expression changed slightly. "Are you ready for some good old fashion hard work this year?" She asked him. Leaning over slightly to pull a tiny speck of fluff from Harry's robe.

Harry was absolutely exhausted from running about the entire day. The fact that Hermione was pushing her morals onto him once more helped no more than Professor Snape's constant, virtually endless sneering whenever Harry showed up late. "Maybe if Snape wouldn't be so bloody brutal all the time. You can tell he enjoys picking on me over anyone else, Hermione. It's really not my fault," He explained with an undying tone of frustration; his eyes locked on the professor to make sure he was not seen.
At her second comment, Harry just stared downward at the desk, negatively anticipating the truck-loads of work he would be trying desperately to keep up with. He began to reminisce, shaking his head in disbelief at the fact that he had already blown through four years of schooling. He didn't realize the head gesture might have looked like an answer to Hermione's question, however, and his attention turned back to the class in general. There was nothing he wanted more than to breeze through the first day of Transfiguration and possibly actually learn something that would be ultimately useful.

"Sorry, Harry. I didn't realise you were upset." Hermione placed a comforting hand on her friends broad shoulder and smiled at him reassuringly before pointing her wand at her fifth match and transfiguring it into a needle, placing in on the small pile of needles that was collection in the corner of her desk. She noticed Harry wasn't doing anything. "Harry." She said softly. "Harry, you'd better start of professor McGonagall wont be too pleased with you.

Harry was only able to smile back at Hermione with her friendly gesture. "It's okay," He forgave her with ease, realizing it had never been in his character to stay mad at either Ron or Hermione.
"Harry, you'd better start or Professor McGonagall won't be too pleased with you," Hearing those words struck Harry right in the heart. He had not realized for a moment that they were already transforming matches into needles. Quickly he drew his wand, placing one match before him and opening his mouth as if to say the spell.
"Hermione," Harry began, his eyes narrowed with confusion, "what's the spell?" He suddenly asked her, obviously having missed a majority of Professor McGonagall's explanation. Harry's eyes shot around the room, stopping at each person to see their progress. It inspired a sense of hurry into him, and he jolted back around to face Hermione.

Lily noticed Harry look around the room he looked upset about something either that or he was angry. she thought to herself and continued transforming matched this must have been the easiest transfiguation class that she had ever had. she placed the final needle into her pile and placed her head on her desk, she hadnt got much sleep and figured now would be the time to have a break.

Hermione sighed as Harry asked for the spell but did not push the subject. "It's fiammifero. When you say it you must waved your wand in a clockwise circular motion and you should be fine." Hermione smiled reassuringly at her friend as she placed yet another needle on her ever-growing pile. She then decided that the amount of matches she had transfigured was becoming absurd and she muttered, "I'll be back." to Harry before moving to the front of the classroom. "Professor..." she said, "I've done twenty three needles now and I was wondering if I could move on to something else?"
A few minutes later Hermione returned to Harry carrying a small timber box. Inside it were five stones. She sat down at the desk and placed one of the stones in front of her, glancing at her Transfiguration text-book as she did so. After two practices of the wand motion she pointed the vine wood at the stone and said clearly, "Cambiamento parassita!" In a few seconds the stone transformed into a grey, dirty mouse. Hermione, feeling somewhat flustered attempted the spell on another stone, hoping this one wouldn't turn out dirty and have gravel for eyeballs reminiscent of the previous one.

Lily rasied her head off the desk and watched Hermione transfiguring her stones, they were turning into cute mice, she wished that she could keep one of them but after a while got bored and placed her head on the desk again accidentally laying on one of the needles "Ouch!" she said laughing slightly
